First of all, MSBTE stands for Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education is the autonomous board for education in the state of Maharashtra. This board designs and implements diploma, post-diploma, and advanced diploma programs that are affiliated to the institutions.
The board was established in August 1963 to cater to the increasing needs of affiliated institutions and their students. It got the status of autonomous in 1999.
The Board conducts examinations for watching the performance of the students who have enrolled for a diploma course, advanced diploma course, and post-diploma courses.
MSBTE examines the students for the summer and winter term. The summer examinations are held in April and May, while the winter examinations are held during November or December months of the year.
MSBTE offers more than 160 Diploma courses for the students in the State of Maharashtra and more than 20 institutes are affiliated to the MSBTE.
History of MSBTE
60 years ago this board was established who was responsible for the higher education of the students. When India had not got the independence and we were in the British rule, that time the diploma courses in Engineering and Technology were provided by institutions like the College of Engineering, Pune, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, Pune, and Government Polytechnic, Nagpur.
A Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) was set up in 1948 during the Nehrukal to control technical education of the country at all levels. As the industrial development increased in the country, the demand for diploma courses also went up very fastly, and then the government of India established a separate Board for the Technical Examinations in August 1963.
The main reason behind the establishment of MSBTE was to ensure that the Diploma level Technical Education of Indian students constantly matches the latest requirements of the Technology and industry and includes the all-round personal development of students including social concerns.
Functions of MSBTE
Design and develop the information of credential, Post credential, and Advanced credential courses. Grant affiliation to the Institutes running MSBTE’s programs. Conduct educational observance of the related establishments, through information Implementation and Assessment Norms (CIAAN).
Organize college Development coaching Programs e.g. content change coaching, soft skills coaching, industrial coaching, management coaching, active skills coaching for engineering school lecturers. Grant equivalence to the programs offered by autonomous polytechnics & alternative organizations. Conduct examinations to declare results and award certificates.
Recommend gap of credential level Technical establishments, variation in intake capability, and closure of the establishments. Felicitate the State level rank holders and award certificates of benefit. Prescribe standards for information, infrastructure, and alternative resources. Generate question papers through Question Banks.
Design and develop curricula of need-based credential programs. Develop laboratory Manuals, CAI Packages, Textbooks, and alternative learning resource packages for a good teaching-learning method.
Revise the curricula of the present programs sporadically on a scientific basis by conducting search conferences, learning technological advancements, latest market needs, job analysis, etc.
Undertake controlled educational autonomy comes from the Polytechnics outside the geographic area State. Undertake external comes, practice, and alternative assignments associated with the examination system and technical education.
Organize Career Fairs to push technical education particularly in distant places. Organize MSBTE State level technical competitions e.g. Students Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz, etc. Issue Scholarships to the destitute and merit able students. Conduct on-line MSCIT Examinations.

Exam Time Table
The exam time table for the diploma examination can be seen on the MSBTE official website.
The students must know that the day of the examination for the examination are excluding Saturday, Sundays, and on Holidays.
Sometimes the examination of different semesters is scheduled on the same day but the slots are different, in this case, it shall not be considered as a clash.
